Summer vacation is here, now let’s have some fun!
I’ve scoured Amazon for fun yard games, beach toys, car games, and activities for kids of all ages - even some indoor activities for those rainy days. There’s no excuse for boredom this summer, let’s have some fun! | This post contains affiliate links |

I’ve had this plant cloche for awhile and just picked up a little Boston fern for it today. This is a special little corner of our dining room - my grandparents’ candle sticks, a photo from my great-grandparents’ farm, and an old photo of my husband’s grandmother.
A lot of family history in this little corner.

Teacher gift ideas are always tough… I always want to do something thoughtful, useful, but still affordable. This year we decided to make ruler painted flower pots to go with the “Thanks for helping me GROW” theme. In them we planted small aloe vera plants which will come in handy for soothing sunburns over summer vacation. | This post contains affiliate links |
How-To:
First paint the lip of the pot with the yellow acrylic paint, you might need to do several coats to get good coverage.
Then mark inch lines evenly around the rim (I made a template with a piece of scrap paper). It may not come out evenly when they meet up so feel free to take artistic license with the spacing.
Then using a sharpie or black paint and a fine paintbrush, paint the lines of the ruler (whole, half, and quarter lines) as well as the numbers.
Once everything is dry, fill with soil and a plant of your choice. We decided on aloe vera since it’s a useful plant as well - the teachers will be able to use it to soothe any sunburns that may happen over summer vacation.
All that’s left is to add a card or a gift tag and a message of thanks!

Drilled wellheads are a common eyesore in yards these days. Often installed in a convenient location for maintenance, but definitely not appealing. Take our wellhead for example - it's smack dab in the middle of our front lawn and sticks out like a sore thumb. Thankfully with the help of a Dekorra Rock Enclosure from the Home Depot, I was able to easily and quickly hide this eyesore in just one afternon!
You can check out the full how-to on "How to Hide a Drilled Wellhead" on The Home Depot Blog.

Living by the lake, we constantly have wet bathing suits all summer that need to be hung to dry, At first we used a drying rack in our shower but it was rather cumbersome and a pain to constantly set it up and take it out, until I had a revelation and found these awesome plastic hooks that hang from our glass shower walls. | This post contains affiliate links |
These plastic hooks fit perfectly over our shower wall, won’t rust, are easy to clean, and are perfect for hanging wet bathing suits from to drip dry into the shower. They have been the perfect bathing suit drying solution for us!
Bonus tip: Always rinse your bathing suits out in the sink with fresh water before hanging to drip dry. You don’t want them to sit and dry with dirty lake water or harsh chlorine from the pool on them. Rinsing them out with clean water helps keep your bathing suits looking good and lasting longer.

Here in New England we seemed to have a very late start to spring this year… after all the snow didn’t even melt from our yard until May 2nd! The rest of May has been generally cool and rainy and didn’t give us a chance to rototill and prep our garden until now. I finally planted the garden with our older daughter today and fingers crossed it does well this year! Last year our garden was a bust… we inadvertently overdid it with adding woodash the year before and nothing grew. But thanks to soil testing with UNH we have since re-set the pH and other imbalances and things should be off to a better start this year!

Donating my hair has been a bucket list item since Middle School and I finally did it! In the past I could never seem to get it long enough before needing to get it cut, or I had highlights at the time (most places will not accept blonde highlighted hair because of the bleach) - but finally it was long enough and highlight-free so I went for it :)
I’m sending these 10 inches in to Children with Hair Loss which provides hair pieces and wigs to children and young adults with medically-related hair loss at no cost. I hope it can be put to good use for someone who needs it.

We LOVE going camping, but camping with kids definitely adds to the amount of stuff you need to bring… like several complete changes of clothes per day for each kid, just in case. In order to keep our tent more organized and to help make outfit changes quick and easy (even in the middle of the night), we love using packing cubes! | This post contains affiliate links |
Each kid gets their own packing cube which makes finding clothes easy - no more digging to the bottom of a dark duffle bag to find a tiny pair of socks. I highly reccomend giving packing cubes a try on your next overnight trip, whether it's camping or a hotel stay, they're a game-changer!
